Apology

...for all the delays - don't blame Artsie and Fanny!

They really wanted to do their jobs,
but due to unexpected RL events I needed them both to do MY job.
So it's rather my fault that there was no Challenge Recap yesterday
and Mrs.V was deserted while doing her awesome Discussion Recap.
Instead of one show on Saturday night,
I had to do an additional one all through Sunday afternoon.
(the pic above was actually taken yesterday
and sent to me by a fan - cool fans, hu?).

I couldn't do that without Artsie's guidance or Fanny's enthusiasm,
that's why I stole them from you.
All three of us were very exhausted after all the travelling and performing and 30 hrs without sleep.

Now Fanny is back at her drawing desk
(yes - since she served me so well, I officially allowed her now
to do her... whatever it is she does there...),
and Artsie has started to reply to all your wonderful comments.

So just stay tuned...

...and enjoy Mrs.Vanquish's

Random. Betti. Music. History.

Sorting old photographs is a funny thing.
Well, it was for me when I did... I wasn't really aware of
how many bad hair days one can have in a single
lifetime - it's fascinating.
Anyway - I don't want to bother you with my past private
disasters. But I felt like sharing some of my public ones.
I actually had my first appearance on a public stage
at the age of nine. Honestly, no school production or else:
Me. Guitar. Club. Concert.
Unfortunately undocumented... so this starts age 16.

The real fun though is to say: "Look, no hands!"
I play several instruments - guitar, piano, drums, flutes - but
do I like it? Nah... can I please have a band?
And a stage big enough to perform my ass off... running,
jumping, dancing? Thanks!
The pics below are all "nowadays"...

My fav Rob vid: "The Hug"

It's from one of my fav Rob moments on video:
The Q&A session with the audience at the Austin Film Festival in Oct 2008. When he hugs that little girl and almost pees his pants with laughter and embarrassment. It's unbelievably sweet!

Transcript:
  • Audience member Maya (little girl): "I have two questions. Uh one, could you sing to us?"
  • Rob: "You know how I sounded in the movie. I’m terrible."
  • Maya: "Um, can I hug you?"
  • Rob: "Yeah, if you want. You’ll probably be really disappointed, though. Ok, ok."  (walks over to the girl and hugs her with prompting from audience)
  • Rob: "Are you alright? I don’t know what to do. I’m emotionally retarded, that’s why I’m never having kids"
Here is the link to the video of the full Q&A session. The scene in question starts at about 5:50.
It's a must-see!! Enjoy...

What I like about this video too:
It is all BEFORE Twilight. The director of "How to be", Oliver seemed to think he had made a snap, because he had (unknowingly) cast the "guy from Harry Potter". (LOL) He had NO IDEA what lay ahead...
  • Oliver (to Rob): "When I cast you for the part I didn’t know about Harry Potter, I mean you said to me “oh yeah, whatever” and I was like “whatever”.  But it was after that, when we cast you, after, they were saying ‘Oh, you know you cast this guy that was in Harry Potter blah blah blah,” like you know, the telegraph person to look at, and I was like ‘Really? Ok, he just seemed right for the part, ya know, not that we didn’t have genuine casting choices, we just lucked out that we got the right person on the right day, you know.  That’s the way it works I guess, luckily.  But you know, two years or a year of looking for the right person, makes you eventually get lucky."

the Robsten Lovers keep their promises...

... and so do I. I promised them to take a picture of me wearing the beautiful bracelet they sent to me, and which has become my new lucky charm. It came all the way from the US to good old Germany, and had arrived just in time to bring me some luck when I needed it badly. So here's the piece of evidence.
If you aren't following the Robsten Lovers yet, don't wait any longer. You might win some nice Twilighty stuff. And the girls keep their promises...

Betti Gefecht: My real self

Pics of last Sunday's (June, 21st) open air concert.
Thanks to Thomas, member of my girl group's fanclub, who took these photos and sent them over.
I think they're pretty cool because they do not only show the vibe and feel of a live concert, but also my real self...
there's no other place or occasion where I feel more confident, more natural or more woman at all than on a stage, performing my music, winning over the audience...
I'll probably keep on doing this until they tell me I'm too old (some say I am already... but at least it's not too obvious yet, so I guess I still have a few years) ;-)

my new lucky charm

It had been raining all week here in Germany.
Raining.
And raining.
And it was soo cold...

I was almost about to commit suicide, because a 4-hour-show was scheduled for today... open air!!!

Me and my girl group of ten, called "Betti's Stagefright" had been planning to wear our new stage costumes, very small stage costumes.

We arrived at the festival - only 15 minutes to go and the place was practically empty because IT WAS RAINING.
Desperately (and shivering), we stepped on stage.

When the first note was sung, suddenly the sky opened, the sun came out and the place was crowded in no time!
We had a fantastic show with a happy audience dancing and cheering. When we took our bows four hours later, the sky had slowly overclouded again. The very moment we left the stage, the first raindrops were falling...

What the Forks?! How come we were so incredibly lucky?
I decided, it must have been my new lucky charm: the beautiful silver bracelet that K. and E. of the Robsten Lovers had sent to me. It arrived yesterday. I fell in love with it and haven't taken it off since. If there was any proof needed that there is something magic about this cute little thing... here you are!

---------------
Added June 24th: fresh pic of that event (mailed to me by a fan)
See how the sun's been beaming down on me... I'm the one with the hand microphone, beaming back :-)   (more pics of the concert here)
