team taycob had a few questions...

Go check out Team Taycob (A really HOT site!!). Really nice girls over there, lots of interesting and funny stuff to rummage around. They interviewed  me an hour ago... or so... darn, it's 4:05 a.m. here in Germany. I should sleep now.
But go visit them! Here's an excerpt of the interview:

Interview with Betti Gefecht,

Artist of "One Wolf". . .

. . .And the now infamous Rob video. That's another story. Anyway, I have been talking to Betti via email for a few months now, and she offered us up a interview. So read away!

TT: When did you know music was what you wanted to do?

BG: I didn't get into music on a deliberate decision. Actually the music rather got into me.

It never had been something I WANTED to do - I just did it.

Music loved me and I simply loved it back.

For many years I did it for a living which went well but I actually hated it.

Not the music itself but everything that came with it: the record deals, the inevitable faking and affectations, the pressure, the publicity and everything around (...) Read more over at TT

Other questions were:

  • What inspired you to write "One Wolf?"
  • Working on anything new for the Twilight saga?
  • When did you start reading Twilight and which is your favorite?
  • How has music changed your life?
  • Any advice for new artists?

Rob Pattinson= Jeff Buckley? A singer's POV

Rumour has it...
...that Robert Pattinson would apply for the leading role in a Jeff Buckley biopic. Yesterday I stumbled over a discussion about whether Pattinson could or could not pull it off.
As a long time admirer of the Buckleys (Jeff's father Tim was a incredibly gorgeous singer too - just in case you're too young to remember...), plus being a singer myself, I got some thoughts about it to share... from a singer's point of view.

- The singing, yes or no?
When I heard Pattinson singing for the first time (actually not knowing who it was) he immediately reminded me of Buckley. I am not easily impressed with vocals  and it is a rare thing for me to get goose bumps while listening to a song. I wanted to know who the hell did that trick after... yes: years! When I found out, my first thought was: "No way! That... KID?!?" (a clear déjà vu of my first Buckley encounter btw)
Well, I guess I made my point clear about my opinion towards his singing skills.
I'm not quite sure though whether Pattinson could manage the angelic high notes Buckley was famous for, but I would LOVE to hear him try... (it's learnable - subject to a given potential. I know what I'm talking about!) I believe he would throw in everything he's got. And he's got a lot!
So: Yes.

...and some more Robert Pattinson singing

Jeff Buckley (the tricky part!!!)

- The physics, yes or no?
Most people who think Pattinson is a no-go for that part were referring to his look. They'd rather have James Franco because he looks so much like Buckley. There's obviously a strong resemblance, so what? We're not talking about a photo shoot here. It's all about acting!
You can rely upon Pattinson's ability as an actor here, he's got the depth. Some people thought he isn't a good actor and said, they hated him in "Twilight". Oh pleeaaase... no matter how much I loved "Twilight" for the romantic things it did to me - my analytical mind still insists on telling me it wasn't a very sophisticated movie. The part of Edward wasn't very demanding at all, and Pattinson made more of it than possibly could be expected. He WILL look like Buckley.
Definitely: Yes!

A little manip for the doubtful. Left: Buckley, right: Pattinson

Hey, just got a wonderful idea: why not have Franco play Tim Buckley in that pic? Maybe that part goes without singing... uhm, not very likely. But he could lipsync, and I'd recommend my adorable hubby Freimann for the vocals. Want a taste?

Bedtime Stories

..or: In bed with Robert Pattinson, so to speak

Phew! I almost had to get myself some liquid courage before posting this. Unfortunately I am a teetolar to the core. Ok.

! warning: video could be considered rated "R"
if you're nit-picking !
So... before you watch, a little faq won't hurt...
(video, embed code and else below)

What kind of video is this?
It's a little animated musicclip featuring another song of mine, called "Bedtime Stories". I am both musician and artist, so I love to do such things when I have some spare time. And ever since I had played around with my computer programs to make that animated clip for "One Wolf / Jacob's Song(which was my first experiment in animating), I was eager to improve in that. The result is still raw, since it is all handmade, pic by pic. The song is taken from my album "Do The Right Thing", by the way.

What is it about?"
Bedtime Stories" is a tender lullaby/love song.
Imagine two enamoreds at bedtime, not willing to close their eyes and sleep, like they don't want to miss a single moment together. The line "tell me bedtime stories" is supposed to mean "seduce me", of course. When I wrote this song I tried to make it sound somewhat sexy, but ended up just sweet. Now with this clip it's getting pretty close to what I had intended in the first place.

So why is Robert Pattinson in it?
Pay attention! Didn't I just say, I wanted it to be sexy? ;-)
No, seriously: In the video I tried to illustrate just a girl's dream (that's why the guy is vanishing again and again). And since every girl seems to be dreaming of Rob these days, well... I just felt his face is the most pleasant, intense, natural and expressive face I could get to model the male character in my little story. (in the end though, the girl still has that one polaroid she took of him - so it is left to your imagination whether she's been really just dreaming or not...)

What's it about the "R" rating?
Are you serious?
Apart from the fact that the whole scene takes place in a bed, plus dearest Rob being naked all the time... no. I mean, this is not pornographic or something. Maybe the worst part of it is that he is having a cigarette at one point.
But just in case your 11-year-old robsessed sister is sitting next you, or your super-catholic twicrack granny is looking over your shoulder, you might want to come back later and watch the video without their company first...

Why do you apologize to Rob in the beginning?
Because I truly respect him as a incredibly gifted artist. And though I assume he has a real good sense of humour, I wanted to state that clearly. I didn't lie when I said that I admire him for his singing in the first place (his rendition of "Let me sign" is heartbreaking!). It is not his fault that he's hot too, right?

Ready then?
Click the image below to be taken to the vid in good quality.
Will open in its own tiny popup window. Enjoy!
And please leave a comment here if you don't mind...
(Just in case the link doesn't work for some reason - after receiving encouragement from my favourite fellow Twilight blogger - it's now on youtube too.)

Want to put it on your blog or website?
No prob, I'd appreciate that. Please help yourself with the embed code below (good quality), or get another one at youtube (not so good).
(Just if you do so, be so kind as to not forget to credit. Thanks in advance!)

TELL ME BEDTIME STORIES

Didn't post anything lately. This is why:
I am currently working on a new videoclip which is taking a lot of my spare time.
This blog isn't meant to cover all the twilight news anyway (there are countless blogs fulfilling THIS task, who would need one more?). Even if I tried I could no way keep up with all the exciting news every day. So this blog is and will be just about my music and my twilight addiction, simply very personal. Therapeutical, so to say.

About that new video. It's for a song called "Bedtime Stories", a lush lullaby I wrote quite a while ago. I wanted to improve my manufactured-animation skills which I tried with the clip for Jacob's song "One Wolf" for the first time. For this one, I needed a male face to model the leading role of a really handsome guy. Can you guess who came to my mind? Well... I'm afraid I lost it a little while drawing more and more swoonsworthy images. It's half done now and I hope it's not going to be too steamy to put it on the internet. Here's a first teaser pic.

Hint: if you want to be updated when the clip is done, it might be a good idea to subscribe to this blog as a follower. Don't mean to allure you. But since I only post occasionally, it could be quite annoying to stop by every once in a while to just find nothing new...
